Snail Mail World Postcard Art Show 2017

In late 2016 and early 2017, artists from all corners of the world sent in their postcard sized artwork to the Snail Mail World Poscard Art Show. Over 100 entries, along with the top three selected by our panel of judges are a part of this Artway Invitational exhibit.

Originally started in 1999 as the "Great Canadian Mail Art Show", the show was expanded to its current postcard art format in 2003. Since its inception, well over 2,000 entries have been received from all corners of the globe. The show was re-launched in 2016 as a part of Visual Arts Brampton's 30th anniversary.

The Artwork of Cindy Langdon

Born in 1946 in Toronto, Cindy had always wanted to be an artist. She is self taught and very talented. So talented that as a single mother, selling her portrait and figurative pencil drawings helped her pay some of the bills. It was only after retirement that Cindy took up acrylic and oil painting in 2009 with Visual Arts Brampton. Today, Cindy is still a long-time member of the organization.

In 2016, Cindy held her first exhibit selling numerous pieces. It was there that she truly realized her dream of becoming a professional artist.

In 2015 she took on the challenge of watercolours. Cindy is a prolific artist, and this exhibit is a culmination of her acrylic, oil and watercolour paintings.

Graeme Stammers - Watercolours

Graeme Stammers was born in Slough, England in March of 1946 and moved to Toronto, Canada in August of the same year. After finishing high school in 1965 he attended the Ontario College of Art but after completing the first year he had doubts about earning a living as an artist and went to work in electrical industry. Since retiring in July of 2010 he has rekindled his interest in the visual arts. In August of 2010 he enrolled in the watercolour class at the Brampton Seniors Centre where he received instruction under Mississauga artist, Lorraine Ireland. Graeme also enjoys photography and drawing and has been a member of Visual Arts Brampton since January 2015 and has been a Brampton resident for the past thirty years.

Andre Silvera

Andre was born in 1987 in a small town called Falmouth, Jamaica and immigrated to Canada in July 2005, where he attended Fletcher's Meadow Secondary High School. After getting a spot with Brampton Guardian for a class project, it inspired him to pursue a career in the arts. But life brought challenges and obstacles that he had to overcome. He worked factory jobs around Brampton for several years, but art had always been his true passion. This gave him the inspiration to paint work that could change his life, and the life of others.

Andre started painting late in 2012 using the creative imagination and talent that God gave him. Painting helped him achieve a higher self confidence and the belief that he could do any thing he set his mind to.

David Irvine

David Irvine first began The Gnarled Branch in 2004. Prior to this (which was immediately after graduating Sheridan College in the early 1990's)  the business had different names and was almost solely graphic design and illustration based.

Irvine wanted to venture more into a fine arts venture and refocused his work back to painting, crafts and sculpting. He still does commercial art -mainly illustration- but the fine art fills most of his time and is his strongest passion.

There is an ever growing command for Irvine's work from both galleries and collectors from around the world. His work as inspired artists both young and old from Canada to the United States to as far away as Qatar, where a class of budding artists tried their hand at redirecting unwanted paintings.

This display showcases his darker works and passion for his favourite time of year- Hallowe'en. Enjoy!
